Job Description: Mechanical Engineer

Position: Design & Mechanical Engineer at R&D Centre (Welding Robot and Additive Manufacturing System)

Salary Range: £21,000 - £30,000 (dependent on experience, to be determined during the interview)

Working Location: Dreamweld Company's R&D Factory in the UK (specific location to be communicated during the interview; potential locations include Bedfordshire, Luton, Milton Keynes, or Northampton)

Start Date: From 1st October 2023 (negotiable)

Job Type: Full-time permanent, with sponsorship available after two years

Working Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Holidays: Bank holidays, New Year holidays, and others as per UK regulations

Summary:

As a Design & Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, analyzing, and developing mechanical systems, products, and processes to meet specific project requirements and industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring innovative ideas to life and ensure the successful implementation of projects from concept to completion. Your problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and attention to detail will be essential in creating high-quality, efficient, and safe mechanical solutions.

Responsibilities:

Design and Product Development:

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D designs, blueprints, and specifications for mechanical systems and components using computer-aided design (CAD) or Catia software.
  • Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions that fulfill project requirements and align with company objectives.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to conceptualize and design new products and improve existing ones.

Analysis and Testing:

  • Perform simulations and analyses to evaluate the performance, safety, and efficiency of mechanical designs.
  • Oversee prototype testing to validate the functionality and reliability of mechanical systems.
  • Identify and address potential design issues and implement necessary improvements.

Project Management:

  • Manage mechanical engineering projects, set timelines, and ensure deliverables are met within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing teams, to coordinate project activities.

Research and Innovation:

  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in mechanical engineering, welding, and metal additive manufacturing technologies.
  • Conduct research to explore new materials, methodologies, and best practices to enhance product performance and quality.
  • Publish papers and attend conferences to promote technology, solutions, and products.

Manufacturing Support:

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure that designs can be efficiently produced and meet quality standards.
  • Assist in selecting appropriate manufacturing processes and materials to optimize production efficiency.

Quality Assurance and Safety Compliance:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure that products meet specified standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Incorporate safety considerations into designs to ensure compliance with industry safety standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes, testing procedures, and project progress.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to team members, management, and clients.

Continuous Learning and Professional Development:

  • Engage in ongoing learning and stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in mechanical engineering.
  • Participate in professional development activities and industry conferences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees (MSc or PhD) are a plus.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, analysis, and project management.
  • Proficiency in CAD or Catia software and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet deadlines.
  • High ethical standards and professionalism.
